The LSAT measures key skills necessary for success in law school, including:

Reading Comprehension

The Reading Comprehension section of the LSAT assesses your ability to understand and analyze complex texts. It includes passages on diverse topics such as law, humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. Test-takers must identify the main ideas, make inferences, and critically evaluate arguments presented in the texts, crucial skills for succeeding in law school.

Logical Reasoning

The Logical Reasoning sections measure a student’s ability to evaluate arguments and identify logical flaws. Each question presents a short argument or set of statements. Students must assess the reasoning and validity of the arguments and identify any assumptions. These skills are essential for law school and legal practice, where constructing and deconstructing arguments is a daily task.

In August 2024, the LSAT eliminated its Analytical Reasoning section (also known as Logic Games). The LSAT now features two scored Logical Reasoning sections and one Reading Comprehension section, along with an unscored section of either type.
