This essentials course lays a solid foundation for high school placement success.

When are the classes offered, and do you have separate morning and evening sessions?

We offer the High School Admissions Class in Summer and Fall, with all sessions occurring in the evening to accommodate your family’s busy schedule. This flexibility ensures that your child can fully engage in the learning experience at a convenient time.

How does the effectiveness of virtual tutoring compare to in-person sessions?

Our data shows that students participating in virtual tutoring sessions perform as well or even better than those who receive live, in-person tutoring. Our virtual learning platform allows for personalized instruction, instant feedback, and access to a wealth of study resources, ensuring that your child receives an optimal learning experience.

It’s important to note that a bigger factor than virtual or live instruction is student commitment and participation. We encourage students to come prepared and eager to learn, as their active engagement will contribute significantly to their success!

What placement tests does the class cover?

Our High School Admissions Prep Class will equip students for success on the HSPT, ISEE, CPS Selective Enrollment, and more. The Fall 2026 classes are test specific, focusing on the Chicago Public School's Selective Enrollment admissions test.

What is a typical class size? Is there a minimum number of students needed?

We believe small class sizes allow for the most personalized instruction. Classes require a minimum of 5 students and have a maximum capacity of 15 students. If a class option does not meet the required minimum, Academic Approach may cancel the class option. Families will be notified, and we will work with you to find a suitable replacement class. If no replacement option is available, a full refund will be provided.

There are a limited number of seats available for each course option. If classes are filled prior to the registration deadline, registration will be closed early.
