Yin Schneider

Winnetka Associate Director of 1-on-1 Tutoring

Yin Schneider currently serves as the Associate Director of 1-on-1 Tutoring at our Winnetka location. 

Yin (she/her) graduated from Indiana University Bloomington with a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education and English Literature. Licensed to teach 5-12th grade, she went on to teach English/Language Arts and Social Studies at CPS. While teaching, Yin also tutored students for the ACT test and then wrote Social Studies curriculum for an e-learning company. At Academic Approach, Yin tutors all sections of the ACT and SAT as well as the HSEE tests. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, playing tennis, knitting, and traveling.

Major Changes to Chicago Public School Testing

CPS Moves to PreACT 9 Secure for Selective Enrollment Testing THIS FALL. 

  • CPS has formally announced that Selective Enrollment testing will move from the HSAT exam to the PreACT 9 Exam.
  • The test will be a full-length PreACT 9 Secure (2.5 hours), much longer than the HSAT, which was only 1 hour.
  • The reasons for the change seem to be based on the more meaningful academic information the test will provide families and administrators.
