Carneige Mellon reinstates ACT/SAT requirements for Fall 2026 applicants

Carnegie Mellon joins the ever-growing list of universities who are phasing out their test optional policies and reinstating ACT/SAT requirements for their applicants. Beginning in Fall 2026, all undergraduate applicants (except those applying to Carneige Mellon’s College of Fine Arts) will be required to submit standardized test scores. Carnegie Mellon is already strongly encouraging School of Computer Science applicants for Fall 2025 to submit ACT/SAT scores, demonstrating the importance the university is placing on standardized test scores in their admissions process.
